ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVE ULAANBAATAR | MEALS: DINNER

On arrival at Ulaanbaatar’s international airport, you will be met by our local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure - depending on your arrival time. Dinner at Mongolian style BBQ dinner. Rest well for the night before heading over to Gobi tomorrow.

DAY 2: FLY TO DALANZADGAD | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER

Transfer to the airport for a flight south to Dalanzadgad. On arrival you will meet your local drivers. Visit Yolyn Am (Vulture Canyon), an oasis of streams and gorges that attracts a variety of Mongolian wildlife. Enjoy afternoon hiking in the striking gorge. Relax in your camp site after your hike, supplementary bottle of beer per person will be provided.

DAY 3: TRAVEL TO KHONGOR SAND DUNES | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER

Morning we will drive to Khongor Sand Dunes (Khongoryn Els) which, at 800 metres tall, 12 kilometres wide and 100 kilometres long, is the largest and most beautiful sand dune in Mongolia. The sand dune lies at the northwest corner of the Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range about 180 kilometres from the provincial capital of Dalanzadgad city. Here, the sound of the wind blowing the sand can be heard miles away creating a melodic sound against the 200-metre-high sand dunes known as ‘Singing Dunes’. This is the perfect location to enjoy a ride on a two-humped Bactrian camel, known by the locals as the ‘Prince of Gobi’.

DAY 4: CAMEL RIDING AROUND KHONGOR SAND DUNES | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER

Today we will meet a camel breeder and learn about his daily life before hiking to the top of the Khongor sand dunes for amazing views of the surrounding scenery. Enjoy camel riding near sand dune half hour.

DAY 5: BAYANZAG, THE FLAMING CLIFFS AND DINOSAURS | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER

Today we will visit Bayanzag, also known as the “Cemetery of Dinosaurs” and Flaming Cliffs. Formed 60 – 70 million years ago, this area is world famous for its dinosaur remains and ancient red rock creations. The area was named Flaming Cliffs by Roy Andrew Chapman, an American explorer who visited Mongolia in 1920s. Frequently described as being like a real ‘Jurassic Park’ this unique area is characterized by classic desert of rock, red sands, shrubs and vast empty spaces. We will have the chance to climb the flaming cliffs at sunset and have a stroll along the cliffs, follow by simple picnic with local Mongolian music. (Subject to weather condition)

DAY 6: MOLTSOG SAND DUNES AROUND AREA | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER 

After breakfast, we will drive to Moltsog sand dunes for 30kms. Walking around area and exploring.  Then move to Dream Gobi Ger camp for 45kms. Relaxing time.

DAY 7: ULAANBAATAR | MEALS: BREAKFAST/DINNER

After early morning breakfast, you will head over to Dalanzadgad and fly back to Ulaanbaatar. You can have this opportunity to rest and shop for souvenirs. Farewell dinner will be at Mongolia traditional hotpot place and we will finish off the night in a jazz bar with some local beer.

DAY 8: TRAVEL TO BEIJING | MEALS: BREAKFAST/DINNER

Today you will travel to Beijing, the history-drenched capital of China. After touching down at the airport, you’ll be met by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time the rest of the day is at your leisure. This evening you meet your group and leader for a pre-tour briefing and a welcome dinner of authentic Peking Duck Banquet served with all the traditional accompaniments.

DAY 9: BEIJING | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH

Layered with tales of emperors, uprisings, grandeur and hubris, Beijing is an extraordinary place to visit. Begin your journey through this fantastic city with a stop at Tiananmen Square, one of the grandest public plazas in the world with a history as complicated as it is diverse. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Forbidden City and Summer Palace while uncovering the ancient history and architecture tied to these sites. This evening is at leisure.

DAY 10: GREAT WALL | MEALS: BREAKFAST/LUNCH

Today’s adventures take you north of Beijing to one of China’s most iconic attractions – the Great Wall, known as the largest defensive structure in the world. On the way, you’ll visit one of Beijing’s most renowned jade producers to learn about the history and manufacturing process of China’s precious, celebrated stone. After climbing the wall and taking a break for lunch, you’ll get to experience a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and sample some locally favoured brews at a tea house.

As the evening rolls in, enjoy the night at your own leisure. If you’re looking for things to do, your leader will be able to assist with suggestions or ideas. Perhaps you can join a Chinese acrobatic show – a stunning performance combining fascinating history, traditional Chinese martial arts and modern special effects.
